You can often browse our website without identifying yourself. We will ask for personal information when it is required by law, needed to complete an order or service, or impractical to proceed anonymously — for example when you:

• place an online order, arrange delivery, or collect goods from our showroom;
• create an account, claim a warranty or consumer guarantee, or request a return/repair;
• enter a promotion, leave a review, or contact us with an enquiry or complaint;
• apply for trade credit or finance, or join a loyalty/rewards program.

You can decline marketing contact at any time (see Marketing below). Declining required information may mean we cannot fulfil your order or request.

We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to operate our lighting retail business, including to:

• supply products and related services, and process payments;
• handle enquiries, complaints, warranty and consumer guarantee claims;
• manage accounts, deliveries, click-and-collect and drop-ship orders;
• prevent fraud, verify identity where needed, and meet legal or regulatory duties;
• improve our website, products and customer experience;
• send marketing about our products and offers where permitted (you can opt out);
• work with suppliers on recalls, updates and after-sales support;
• support a sale or potential sale of our business or assets.

We may also use information for related purposes you would reasonably expect. Documents that happen to contain personal information are kept under our normal accounting, legal and business retention practices.

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

• identity and contact details (name, address, phone, email);
• order, payment and transaction details;
• account credentials and preferences;
• delivery instructions and showroom visit details;
• warranty, return and support correspondence;
• ID details where we need to verify who you are (for example trade accounts or high-value collections);
• website technical data such as IP address, device/browser type and browsing activity on our site;
• social media handles if you contact us publicly about our products;
• CCTV images if you visit our Ashmore premises.

We usually collect information directly from you — online, by phone, email, or in store. We may also receive information from referees if you apply for a job, or incidentally from people who work for organisations that deal with us.

Information is held in electronic customer records and documents on our systems (and those of carefully chosen service providers), and in securely stored hard-copy records where relevant.

We may use your contact details to tell you about products, offers and news by email, SMS, post, phone or social channels, unless you have opted out.

When you create an account, place an order, or join a promotion, we may add you to our marketing list. You can unsubscribe using the link in our emails, or by contacting the Privacy Officer. We may still send essential messages about your order or account.

We may share personal information with:

• service providers who help us run the business (payments, hosting, logistics, marketing platforms, IT, professional advisers, debt collection, security);
• couriers and fulfilment partners;
• manufacturers, distributors and authorised repairers for warranty, recall or repair work;
• insurers and brokers;
• law enforcement or regulators where required or appropriate;
• parties involved in a business sale or investment, under confidentiality protections;
• anyone else you expressly authorise.

If you return a device or product that stores personal data, sending it for repair may involve disclosing that stored information to the repairer.

Some service providers may store or process data outside Australia (for example cloud hosting or payment platforms). Those locations can include the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, India, New Zealand or other countries. Privacy laws there may differ from Australia’s. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle information appropriately.

If you apply for a role with us, we collect the information in your application and may contact nominated referees. We use that information only for recruitment (and related legal) purposes.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please also protect your account password and devices.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact the Privacy Officer using the details above. We will respond within a reasonable time. In limited cases the law may allow us to refuse access; if so, we will explain why where we can.

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please write to the Privacy Officer. We will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working (cart, login, preferences), understand traffic, and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect site features.
